In 1895, German and Austrian scientific journals published articles about the "New source of iodine in Zabłocie" wrote by court counselor and professor at the University of Vienna, Ernst Ludwig, who was the greatest authority in the study of healing waters and mud in the Monarchy of Austria. On the basis of the analyzes of that brine ("Kronenjodwasser"), the author reports that it has an incredibly high iodine content. According to Professor Ernest Ludwig, the water in Zabłocie it is the strongest source of iodine, which means that in the time of the study it had the greatest iodine content among the previously identified waters, 5 times more iodine than water from Darków and nearly 5 times more than the source in Bad Hall. To date, the brine from Zabłocie has the world's largest iodine content, of up to 140 mg per liter.

The production of iodized salt was started probably in 1896. It was named "Kronenjodsalz" interchangeably with "Kronen Jodsalz" or "Zablaczer Kronenjodsalz" ( "Iodized salt with a crown from Zabłocie"). The drillhole, which then did not have a name yet (except Zablacz), later came to be called "Korona" (Polish for "crown").

In 1949, the KORONA spring was taken care of by the State Enterprise "Polskie uzdrowiska". The drillhole was purified and adjusted to the working condition. After achieving proper access to the spring, the chemical composition of the brine was carefully examined, containing more than 130 mg of iodine per liter. Based on the analysis carried out in the Department of Scientific Research in Szczawno Zdrój, the brine qualified for the type of iodine-bromine, earth- alkaline-ferruginous waters. Again brine from Zabłocie went to spas all over Europe, where it was used to treat numerous respiratory, bone and joint problems, skin disorders and other ailments.

In 1949, further drilling explorations, this time for natural gas, left the second well 60 meters south of the "Korona" spring. A new drillhole was called "Tadeusz". As this time the intended purpose was not achieved, and while drilling at a depth of over 550 m occurred an outflow of even more concentrated iodine-bromine brine, containing 144 mg of iodine per liter, the well was taken over by the Head Office of "Polskie uzdrowiska" in Warsaw to extract brine for medicinal purposes. Then the technological process of the production of iodine-bromine salt was developed and the experimental salt-works were built.

At the end of the 80s has the interest in this valuable resource faded and mining in Zabłocie brine mine was abandoned. The abandoned property was bought by Józef Gomola, an enthusiast of balneology who appreciated the importance of iodine. It was he who took care of the Korona until it was in condition fit for use.

After the ownership transformation, the current owner of the deposit and Korona drillhole is the company Solanka z Zabłocia sp. z o. o. which is currently managed by: president Bogusław Goik and vice presidents Grzegorz Gomola, Krzysztof Lipiński and Ryszard Ślaski.

Since the creation of the Company on 13 May 2010, we obtained the license No. 12/2010 for the extraction of medicinal water, issued by the Minister of the Environment on 18 August 2010.

The Company is currently taking vigorous action to rebuild the splendor of the brand
